A guide to your best bath ever

Due to the fact that many of us are working remotely in these unsettling times, we’re guessing that the morning race for the shower has been superseded by a delicious evening bath. If you haven’t made the switch then we highly recommend that you do – and have put together a few tips on how to make your tub experience truly spa-worthy…

Set the scene
Sure, you can just run some water and hop in the tub, but if you want a true (home) spa experience, you need to start by creating the right atmosphere. This part is totally up to you. Do you want candles? Or dimmed lights? Sometimes I enjoy a little music with my bath, and even a glass of Pinot Noir on those longer winter nights. A great candle choice for this is Byredo’s heavenly Cotton Poplin $121, for the ultimate soothing scent. Think fresh, clean linen with a touch of blue chamomile and a hint of sweet musk for understated sophistication
Add some salts
I love to pour in unscented Epsom salts in my bath for so many reasons – both wellness and feel good. They're great for soothing sore muscles and make your bath water feel soft and nourishing, as well as being relatively easy on the wallet. However for a more luxe, pre-sleep treat, opt for This Works Deep Sleep Bath Soak $58, which has been formulated using the sleep-inducing properties of Lavender, Vetivert and Wild Chamomile essential oils. French Lavender helps with tension and insomnia, while Chamomile's relaxing aroma has an almost sedative effect to calm both mind and body. Vetivert has been called the “oil of tranquillity", helping settle the nerves and giving you a feeling of balance, while treating mental and physical exhaustion.
Or make it a party
As far as the products go, there’s no limit to the options out there. From bath bombs to bubble bars to bath oils, each of which is available in a myriad of shapes, smells, and sizes, there’s sure to be something out there that suits your bath time needs. Handmade in New Zealand, Ahhh Raspberry Marshmallow Bath Bomb $7.99 is a sure fire winner - a bath bomb created using natural ingredients that combines the sensation of a traditional fizz bomb with deeply nourishing coconut oil to hydrate.
Go forth and mask
Use your bath time to beautify. This is going all out, but for the ultimate spa experience at home, apply a face mask while you soak. I love MV Organic Skincare’s award winning Signature Mineral Mask Set $92, which is a beautiful way to give yourself a mini facial at home. A game changer when it comes to reducing redness and evening out skin tone, this soothing, strengthening and refining mask is a perfect skin pick-me-up and definitely selfie-approved.

Seal in the goodness
After a bath it’s essential that you lock all of that moisture in with a rich body cream or oil. As the temperature drops the latter is my pick, and there are so many lush options to choose from. A great before-bed treat is Dr.Hauschka Moor Lavender Calming Body Oil $49.00, which has rich shea butter and jojoba in the formula to envelop the skin in a soothing layer of protection. The gentle natural fragrance of lavender essential oil promotes calm, deep sleep, and you’ll wake up feeling ready to take on anything.
