Does your vagina need its own body wash?
Take a look inside anyone’s bathroom and you’ll find a face cleanser, body wash, deodorant and an army of lotions and potions. With a dedicated product for every part of your body, why is it that our most intimate region misses out?

While controversial, it turns out using a specialised wash ‘down there’ isn’t a bad thing –in fact, there’s plenty of good to come from it. Don’t get us wrong though; there are plenty of brands and products to be weary of within the feminine hygiene category. We were also of the opinion that your vagina should be left alone, until we discovered DeoDoc.

Finding the whole realm of feminine care products sterile, old-school and disappointing, Swedish-based sisters and DeoDoc founders Hasti and Dr. Hedieh Asadi decided the category needed a massive shake-up.
“We have hundreds of different creams for the hands, eyes, face, and even the feet,” says Heideh. “But for the most sensitive skin on our body, the intimate skin, we have two brands made by old men who have no clue what women like.”
While studying to become a surgeon, Hedieh met gynecologist Dr. Gunvor Ekman-Ordeberg, who also recognized the need for a range that worked and women felt proud to put in their basket. “A lot of the products on the market today have allergens and the wrong pH, so we decided we needed to revolutionize the market,” says Hasti. “The woman that buys a Chanel bag doesn’t want to buy the Vagisil.”’
DeoDoc’s hypoallergenic, premium products are developed by doctors and manufactured in Sweden. The range encompasses an After Shave Intimate Balm, Daily Intimate Wash, Deospray, Intimate Wipes, Pre-shave Intimate Oil and Shaving Intimate Foam.
Below, Dr. Asadi answers the most common questions regarding below-the-belt care.
Why did you develop intimate deodorant?
The basic idea of our intimate deodorants is to offer women an effective, gentle and safe alternative to be able to add some extra freshness in their everyday lives. Our goal is to increase awareness of sweat glands in the genital area, because this is a fact that not too many people are aware of. Instead, we have seen how women wash their intimate area excessively or use the wrong products for the sensitive intimate area. When you think about it – the use of an intimate deodorant is not any stranger than using a regular deodorant for the armpits. We ourselves felt that the unwanted odor from our intimate regions was affecting our quality of life.
Why use an intimate wash?
The intimate area is one of the most sensitive areas of the body and requires a specific pH in order to feel good. It’s therefore important to use the right products for the intimate area so that the natural pH balance is not affected. To use an intimate wash with the proper pH is a step in the right direction to having good intimate hygiene. However, the use of ordinary shower gels or soaps are not recommended. These products do more harm than good due to a high pH-level. On the other hand, intimate washes with too low pH (3.5) can also cause damage and create irritation and itching. The external vaginal area has a pH-level of 5, which means that products with too high or too low pH can affect the natural pH balance and the natural flora. This may cause unwanted odor, irritation and itching as a result.
How do you apply the products?
Intimate deospray: Shake the spray well before use and spray from a distance of approximately 15 cm on the external vaginal area. This refers to the intimate area that is normally covered with hair. Can be used on both shaved and non-shaved intimate area. Use on clean skin to achieve the best effect. Suitable for everyday use – whether it’s morning, afternoon, before going to the or during your period. Usage: 1-2 times daily, avoid overuse.
Deowipes: Gently wipe the external vaginal area. This refers to the intimate area that is normally covered with hair. Can be used on both shaved and non-shaved intimate area. Suitable for everyday use – specially when you’re on the go and in need of a quick freshen up, because the wipes are both cleansing and have the deo effect. Usage: 1-2 wipes daily, avoid overuse.
Can you use DeoDoc if I shave?
Yes. The products can be used on both shaved and non-shaved intimate area. If you however just shaved and got some cuts from the razor – avoid to spray directly afterwards since the products should not be used on broken or irritated skin. If you didn’t get any razor cuts – go ahead and spray and enjoy a refreshment in a bottle!
How often can I use the products?
The products are suitable for everyday use, and can be used several times a day if needed. Our usage estimation however for desired effect is 1-2 times daily (for spray, wipe and intimate wash).
What does hypoallergenic and free from parabens mean?
This means that the products are free from parabens, which usually is used as a preservative. Hypoallergenic means that the products do not contain any known substances/ingredients that can cause allergies. Even persons with sensitive skin can use our products. However, this matter is always individual. If you know you have a skin condition/disease or usually react to cosmetics, try the products on the arm 24 hours before applying the product elsewhere.
