Celebrities are obsessed with this $19 soap
Chefs, facialists, personal trainers, private jets… celebrities are anything but relatable. But there is one time where we can relate – when they rave about an affordable beauty product. Better yet? When they’re not paid to do it.
Gwenyth Paltrow, Zoë Kravitz, Lady Gaga, Kate Hudson, Drew Barrymore, Bobbi Brown and even (ex) Royalty Meghan Markle…the list goes on. These are just a few of the genuine, famous fans of Dr. Bronner’s 18-in-1 Pure-Castile Soap.

For inspiration check out these familiar A-list faces favourite ways to use Dr. Bronner’s, as well as a few of ours ;)
FYI: because Dr. Bronner’s is more concentrated than most soaps, you'll want to dilute the solution based on what you're using it for – here’s a handy guide to dilution according to the use
1. Bath soak
If Goop founder Gwenyth Paltrow rates it you know it’s got to be legit. Paltrow looks forward to a relaxing end of day bath soak using the Lavender Liquid Soap. The lavender variant is scented with pure lavender and lavandin oils to calm the mind and soothe the body.
If like us you never seem to have shaving cream on hand when you actually need it then Dr. Bronner’s is a shower essential. The gentle formula ticks all of the boxes for smooth shaving - it lubricates the razor blade with a blend of coconut, olive and jojoba oil, which also provides a much-needed boost of hydration.
3. Facial cleanser
Be like Drew Barrymore and wash your face with Dr. Bronner’s. “No matter how late it is or how tired I am, I wash my face two times daily, morning and night.” She’s a woman after our own heart!
4. Makeup brush cleanser
Beauty editor pro tip: save dollars (and cabinet space) and hold the brush cleanser – Dr. Bronner’s will do the trick. The concentrated solution and oils are super effective when it comes to cleansing and removing stubborn product from brushes.
5. Body wash
No palace allowance needed for Meghan Markle’s go-to body wash! The Suits star-turned-royal-turned-non-royal (?) has sung praises about the beautiful scents and value. “I use Dr. Bronner’s Body Wash in Lavender. I love the smell and it lasts for such a long time. The almond scent is quite nice too if you prefer something warm and sweet. I alternate between the two.” Bobbi Brown, Zoë Kravitz, Natalie Portman and Kate Hudson also count it as one of their favourite body washes.
6. All-purpose surface cleaner
For an easy DIY surface cleaner that you can use to wipe down your kitchen counters, floors and bathroom surfaces, mix one cup of water with one tablespoon of Dr. Bronner's (and 10-15 drops of essential oil if you want a specific scent), then get cleaning.
7. Dog shampoo
It’s only right that your furry friend smells just as good as you! The amount of soap required will vary depending on the size, hair type/length and overall dirtiness of your pooch but what is certain? They’ll never smell better. Select your go-to scent, work it into a lather and rinse as normal.
8. Dishwashing liquid
Dr. Bronner’s recommends diluting the soap 1:10 with water, and then squirting the diluted mix onto a scrub brush.
9. Clearing congestion
Coming up to cold and flu season this natural decongestion alternative is definitely on our list to try. Next time you feel a tickle in your throat, try easing your sinuses with a DIY congestion-clearing steam. Simply swirl one tablespoon of the Peppermint or Eucalyptus soap in a bowl of hot water, then create a cocoon by draping a towel over your head and breathing in the essential oils on and off for a few minutes.
10. Baby wash
The bh mums love the Baby-Mild Liquid Soap for infants. With no added fragrance and double the olive oil, it’s ideal for sensitive skin while delivering double the nourishment.
11. Foot soak
Kristen Bell swears Dr Bronner’s can be used for anything! “The peppermint is nice for a foot soak at the end of the day.”
12. Window washing
Sandra Bullock is an advocate for the soap as a natural window cleaner – her preference is Almond. Dr. Bronner’s recommends mixing one tablespoon of soap with a quarter of water into a spray bottle. Follow up with pure club soda, or half vinegar/ half water.
Other incredible uses:
- Rinsing fruit or vegetables
