The $30 bargain foundation Ashley Graham wore to the Oscars
After poring over this year’s best Oscars beauty looks, we were completely validated (but not altogether surprised) to learn one of our favourite looks was created with one of our must-have new makeup items.
Supermodel Ashley Graham looked absolutely flawless, pairing her chic, strapless Zac Posen column gown with classic red-carpet glam: a deep-copper smokey eye, beautifully refined-but-real complexion and a pinky-nude lip.
Instead of using astronomically priced luxury cosmetics, the makeup artist responsible, Kate Synnott, chose to use some newly available cosmetics that are affordable and easily available.
Of course it helps that Ashley is a current spokesmodel for Revlon, but we were still excited to learn Synnott used Revlon’s new Photoready Candid Natural Finish Foundation, $30, on Ashley’s skin because it’s a product that’s been almost universally loved by beautyheaven’s team of editors since its launch several weeks ago. Why so evangelical? Because it’s got a beautifully lightweight texture that's smoothed on easily with a brush or your fingers, has a reasonable amount of coverage and most importantly, allows skin to look like the best version of itself while still minimising imperfections.
Graham attended the awards ceremony, which is known to be several hours long, and then hit up the afterparties with her husband Justin Ervin. While we have no doubt she was attended by her glam team in between (her hair had been re-done), her makeup look was almost identical, meaning touch ups with the already applied products are relatively simple.
The foundation was applied in combination with Revlon’s matching Photoready Candid Concealer, $24.
Other products Synott used include Revlon Colorstay Cream Eyeshadow in Cognac, $19.70, Revlon ColorStay Looks Book Eye Shadow Palette in Enigma (on counter April 1) and Revlon Volumazing mascara, $25.
