Kerry-Lee Dewing reveals her beauty secrets
She plays Shorty Street’s resident Nurse Kylie Brown, the golden girl with a penchant for bad boys. In real life, South African born Kerry-Lee Dewing is fit, fabulous and has been well and truly bitten by the travel bug. We chatted to the naturally-gorgeous small-screen star about her beauty routine and how she looks after herself.
What was your first experience with beauty?
Needing stage makeup for dance shows was a conveniently valid reason to have a substantial little girls kit (mainly glitter and loud eyeshadow colours) to play with from a young age. I also had a very professional looking nail station in my bedroom and I’d recruit my friends to be clients - ha-ha!
Run us through your morning and evening skincare routine.
I use Environ skin care and depending on how my skin is feeling due to work load, hormones, climate etc, I tend to mix things up from week to week. I generally use a pre cleanse, not so fussed on a “wash,” rather just warm water and a microfiber flannel. Toner and eye cream always, and then a combination of serums and gels. I ensure I always use Vitamin A and peptides at night and broad spectrum anti-oxidants under my sunscreen in the morning. I few times I week I’ll use the Environ Revival mask over-night.
What three products will we find in your handbag right now?
NARS Bronzing Powder, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant and Environ RAD Sunscreen.
What’s the best tip you’ve learnt sitting in the makeup chair at work?
It’s really interesting to see how the same product, applied using a different technique, so drastically changes the result. Foundation is a big one - the old less is more rule, but specifically that my ideal look is achieved by buffing in foundation/concealer minimally and only in areas where coverage is actually required.
What is your one luxe beauty indulgence?
Occasional Derma Needling to reboot my skin.
Do you have regular beauty treatments?
Mostly maintenance - everything to do hairwise with Pam Dewing at Hair d’ Art, Vitamin Skin Infusions with Linda Jackson at Skin Wellness and lash/brow love at Lure Professional.
What’s your signature scent?
How do you look after yourself and stay in shape?
Eat well, train daily and then treat myself even better on the weekend. That routine works for my mind primarily and my body follows suit.
