5 summer perfumes on our Christmas wish list
Stuck on what to give (or ask for, from Santa) this Christmas? Get it right, and choosing perfume as a gift shows a level of consideration they’ll appreciate with each and every wear.
RELATED: Can a fragrance make you happy?
However even if you’re picking for yourself, the options can be overwhelming.
Some tips on choosing perfume fragrance:
Consider the previous perfumes you or your recipient have previously worn and loved. What fragrance family do they belong to? Select one within the same grouping. Some common ones are: fresh, green, floral, oriental, woody or gourmand.
Consider your or your recipient’s personality and favourite pastimes. Nature lovers often enjoy an earthy or green fragrance, a keen sailor is likely to enjoy fresh, salty notes, while a coffee or chocolate lover might appreciate a gourmand scent.
Ask a consultant at a well-stocked fragrance counter to suggest some of the newest releases that might suit.
Here are 5 of the best new perfumes we’re giving (and hoping to receive) this Christmas:
Tiffany & Co Eau de Parfum Intense
You’d definitely hear us doing a squeal of delight finding a blue box of a very specific colour under the Christmas tree. It could contain jewellery or the incredibly chic, soft iris, vanilla and musk mix in Tiffany & Co Eau de Parfum Intense 50ml, $200.
Karen Walker Runaway Azure EDP
Karen Walker chose a lush far-flung island with aquamarine waters and juicy fruit-laden foliage to inspire her new fragrance, Karen Walker Runaway Azure 60ml EDP, $155, which still has a cool-girl dry down that's predictably (for KW) unexpected.
Miu Miu Fleur D’Argent EDP
This tuberose-heady, sensual scent was apparently inspired by a jacket draped over a shimmering dress (yes, seriously) which is pretty much a go-to when you want to turn heads but also play it cool am I right? The musk and akigalawood in Miu Miu Fleur D’Argent 50ml EDP, $167, make it the last word in sophistication.
Marc Jacobs Daisy Love EDP
Marc Jacobs’ 2007 classic, Daisy has been picked fresh for a younger, cooler generation. Marc Jacobs Daisy Love 50ml EDP, $119, has warm, sweet notes of Cloudberry (a rare raspberry-like alpine berry), daisy, driftwood and musk. Perfect with a a crisp cotton sundress every day through summer.
Elizabeth Arden My Fifth Avenue EDP
Sparkling, buoyant and bright, with citrus top notes balanced with musk and woods, Elizabeth Arden My Fifth Avenue 100ml EDP, $109, instantly invokes a sort of carefree confidence, like anything could happen! A perfect special occasion scent.
