What can women expect when visiting a clinic for the first time?
A welcoming environment that offers treatments that work, extensive knowledge and professionals who have their client’s best interests at heart. To best prepare, simply bring yourself, your skin concerns and knowledge of any medication or supplements you may be on, and we will do the rest for you.
What’s the biggest skin concern you treat in clinic and why do you think that is?
Aged/ sun damaged skin. This covers a number of concerns -sun spots, dilated/broken capillaries and weathered/ rough skin texture. It will be a mix of reasons. We live in New Zealand and having a hole in our ozone laser does not help, but these concerns can also stem from not having had the education from a young age about sun protection. Women used to purposely sunbathe to get burnt so they would tan and use products such as baby oils and even cooking oils to achieve this. Having a good tan was considered healthy, when in fact it was depleting our collagen and causing premature ageing.
What’s the best piece of advice you can give to women in terms of beauty treatments?
Having regular treatments! We cannot achieve results for our clients if we only see them once every 3, 6 or even 12 months. It’s like going to the gym and having a goal, we cannot achieve staying fit and toned if we visit the gym once every 3 months -same goes for skin. We need to be seeing our clients more regularly for us to be able to achieve the results they’re after.

How important is home care?
Home care is extremely important. You are treating your skin concerns every day if you are on the right skin care and using the correct ingredients for your skin. It also helps us treatment providers to achieve the results you are after, along with the correcting treatments we perform on the client.
What should everyone be doing for their skin on a daily basis?
Wearing SPF 30+ is a must! For all skin types, even oily. Antioxidants in skin care are great for preventing free radicals, which lead to collagen break down, but also help with how the skin functions eg. Keeping cells intact which hold water/hydration. And of course, last but not least, drinking a good amount of water every day to achieve a happy, healthy skin.
