With Shortland St returning to our screens tonight after much anticipation, beautyheaven caught up with bubbly 25-year old Rebekah Palmer, who plays Dawn Robinson on the show, to chat all things beauty.
RELATED: Matilda Rice's biggest beauty regret
What was your first experience with beauty?
Probably at the age of four at my first ever dance show. Eyeliner, mascara, foundation, lipstick, hairspray…THE WORKS! I’ve always loved makeup as a beauty tool and am pretty sure it stemmed from there.
Run us through your morning and evening skincare routine...
Mornings: cleanse with the Murad AHA/ABA Exfoliating Cleanser, then apply Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair, followed by Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance – and when I get to work I often moisturise again!
Evenings: Garnier Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash , followed by my Murad cleanser again, Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair and then the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex around the eyes. Seems like a lot, but it honestly takes no time at all. I’ve found products I love and make my face feel soft and hydrated after a day of various heavy makeup and powders applied.

Skin health has always been important to me, but even more so in my current job where every day my face gets put through its paces with a vast range of cosmetics applied to make me “Camera Ready”. At the end of the day I need a product to break though the Make Up leaving my face clean, hydrated and feeling fresh. I’m loving the new Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash from Garnier. Everything I need to refresh this face! #GarnierNZ #sponsored

What three products will we find in your handbag right now?
A mini Tangle Teezer hair brush
What’s the best tip you’ve learnt sitting in the makeup chair at work?
Best tip I’ve learn in the makeup chair is how to contour and how not to over-do the blush!!
What is your one can’t-live-without, luxe beauty indulgence?
A collagen lash lift with a lash tint from Lure Professional is my absolute go to when I want to indulge myself. Not only do you get to close your eyes for a good 45 mins while the procedure is done (nothing like a justified midday nap) but you walk out with your lashes looking lifted as though you are wearing mascara although you are not! I love not wearing makeup on my days off but with blonde lashes it give me a little something to open up and bring out my eyes with no product!
Do you get any regular beauty treatments?
I love a pedicure… so every few weeks I frequent Art of Nails in Ponsonby for that. And Collagen Lash lift from Lure Professional. They are amazing there and tidy up my brows for me at the same time.
What’s your biggest beauty regret to date?
When I tried to dye my hair pink.. I pretended that I loved it but I defiantly cried about it!
What’s your signature scent?
For years I’ve worn Blooming Bouquet by Dior.
How do you look after yourself and stay in shape?
I’m a bit of a gym regular, you’ll find me there at least 4 times a week - Les Mills Grit has been my favourite for years. I do 30 minutes high intensity training which really gets a sweat on!
Any beauty advice to your younger self?
Wash your makeup off before bed… No excuses!
What advice do you wish you could tell your younger self?
