Toni Street’s beauty routine, red carpet go-to and workout regime
Radio and TV personality Toni Street is a busy mum of three, welcoming her and husband Matt’s third child, Lachlan, via surrogate last year. With her infectious personality and mega-watt smile, the bubbly broadcaster is a true natural beauty and sits right at the top of many people’s list of deadset fav Kiwis. Despite juggling 4am radio starts and three busy pre-schoolers, she always looks effortlessly glam, so we picked her brains to find out exactly how she does it!
What was your first experience with beauty?
I started jazz dancing when I was about seven and we had to wear the full works of makeup - eyeliner, foundation and blush on stage. It was one of my favourite parts!
Run us through your morning and evening skincare routine.
Morning (4am!): I start with a hot flannel then Lancome's Absolue Crème Fondante Soft Cream Moisturiser (this is to die for!) and if I'm feeling tired I’ll add in Plantae Avocado Pear Eye Contour Cream.
Night: Plantae's Exfoliant Visage Cleanser then Plantae's Sea Buckthorn Berry Night Cream. If my skin is feeling dry I'll use Elizabeth Arden's Visible Difference Replenishing HydraGel. Every second night I also wash and condition my hair with Olaplex, it's made a huge difference to the condition of my hair.
What three products will we find in your handbag right now?
- L'Oreal Paris GlamBronze
- OPI's new Tokyo collection's "Hurry-juku Get this Colour"
How has becoming a mum changed your beauty regime?
I can get my makeup and hair done much quicker now! I have deliberately kept my hair longer as it's easy to style with a couple of GHD curls and I used to wear eye shadow in the day. now it's just eyeliner and mascara to speed up the process.
How do you like to glam up your makeup look for red carpet events?
I like to go much heavier around my eyes. I love a smoky eye with false lashes and heaps of eyeliner top and bottom!
What’s the best tip you’ve learnt sitting in the makeup chair at work?
Contouring your face with bronzer can really give your face shape! It's a must for me as I have a round face.
What is your one luxe beauty indulgence?
A facial but that only happens once or twice a year!
Do you have regular beauty treatments?
I get spray tans before big events from Bare Waxing in Belmont, I find they give me an instant lift (in between events I use Bondi Sands). I get my eyebrows feathered every year from Shari at Brow Theory, it frames the face and is one of the best things I've ever had done. I also had an IPL treatment at the Caci Clinic on my face for the first time last winter and it make a major difference to my sun spots.
Who is your beauty style icon and why?
Locally it would be Lorraine Downs, she's aging so gracefully and just glows every time I see her. Internationally, I love the style of Blake Lively, she's always classic but never old fashioned. I'm also a big fan of Kate Middleton, love her classic choices.
What’s your biggest beauty regret to date?
Getting my hair dyed with a full head of blonde. Having the natural colour come through is so much more flattering for my complexion, so now I prefer foils!
What’s your signature scent?
At the moment I'm loving Jo Malone's Wild Bluebell, which I got for Christmas.
How do you look after yourself and stay in shape?
I do F45 and personal training sessions with Selva Thankamani at Get Fit Fast - I love the short sharp high intensity workouts. It doesn't take all day and gives you that rush of endorphins!
