The best Valentine's Day makeup ideas
Valentine’s Day is under two weeks away, I repeat, under two weeks away. It’s the most romantic night of the year, but that doesn’t mean you need to be in a ‘smug married’ couple to celebrate. Whether you’re hitting the town with your BF, GF or BFF, on a Tinder date or just out with friends, why not nail your makeup look to help you feel a million bucks.

These celebrity couples do date night right – take inspiration from the gorgeous leading ladies and dial up the intensity of your usual make-up look with golden skin, smouldering, colourful eyes and power pout.
1. Golden Skin
Justin and Hailey
Soft, glowing and touchable skin is the aim of the game, so a little prep work and a luminous foundation formulation will do the trick nicely. Apply a brightening mask to renew tired, dull skin and infuse it with hydration. Using a radiance-enhancing primer will ensure your complexion looks lit from within and will last the whole night. Once it’s had a chance to settle, apply foundation, then a creamy highlighter to the tops of cheekbones, the cupids bow and down the bridge of your nose.
2. Bold, kissable lips
Priyanka and Nick
Pucker up with a statement making shade – Valentine’s Day traditionally calls for red but you could also add a flirty twist by opting for a playful bright fuchsia. Swipe a rich, full-coverage lipstick on a moisturised mouth. For a more lacquered finish, choose a gloss that has both high intensity colour and sheen.
3. Bright eyes
Dua and Anwar
Sexy, smudgy and smoky – we all know that a dark and dramatic eye look is the little black dress of date night makeup. But why not update it by using bright, bold colour instead? Instead of using a black and grey colour palette, try blue, plum or bronze. Apply a soft kohl pencil around the entire way around your eye, choosing a creamy formulation means it’ll be easy to smudge, which you do so with your finger. Blend your key eye shadow shade all over the lid, then finish with lashings of mascara and a set of falsies for extra impact.
4. Loved up glow
Gwen and Blake
A pop of highlight brings your whole face to life and will have you look like you’re sitting in the soft, flattering glow of candlelight the entire night ! The formulation you choose – cream or powder - is entirely up to you, but where you put it is a little more critical. To avoid looking like a disco ball, apply sparingly to the tops of cheekbones, beneath the outer brow area and down the nose to the tip. Adding it to your collar bones and shoulders will also look fabulous in photos.
