The perfect present for the man or woman who has everything
We all have that one person on our list — the man or woman in our life who is just impossible to buy for. And, it seems to get harder and harder each year to top the next. Why? Because through the course of that year that someone obtains everything they could possibly want!
So, what do you buy the person who has the latest and greatest of everything?! An experience they wouldn’t buy themselves of course - and we’ve discovered just the one.
About Face invited my partner and I to their Ponsonby clinic, which also houses About Man, to try their new Christmas vouchers: Exotic Bliss for Her and Mana Time for Him – read on for our review.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the always lovely About Face team who ushered my nervy boyfriend into the ‘men’s corner’. As soon he was seated on the plush leather lounge and offered a beer (or a choice of gin or whisky!) he was right at home and any nerves he had were put right at ease.
Meanwhile, I was taken upstairs to the beautiful treatment rooms filled with a soft, coconut aroma, which instantly transported me to a remote tropical island.
Exotic Bliss for Her – 75 minutes
Erin: I’d had a particularly busy day that was all go go go so was doubtful that I’d actually be able to wind down. But WOW, five minutes into and I was dead to the world. Beginning with a back massage and exfoliation using the new Pure Fiji Coconut Crush Scrub, which felt heavenly on an often neglected area, I was away with the fairies. Then, my therapist massaged a hydrating butter into my tired feet and wrapped them up to soak in all the goodness throughout the course of the treatment. After the foot treatment, I was treated to a brightening enzyme facial, which started with makeup removal followed by a cleanse and then mask. To top it all off, while the mask was working it’s magic, I received a relaxing chest and neck message. The facial was finished off with a moisturiser and a few drops of Pure Fiji’s signature Dilo Oil to combat redness. Also included in the treatment is a complementary brow tidy.
Mana Time for Him – 75 minutes
Karl: After a crazy week, I really needed some R&R and admittedly this is something I would never buy myself, which made it even better. I always find it hard to justify spending money on myself and often think about this as something reserved for women (and Erin spends enough for the both of us on beauty!). But boy have I been missing out. The Mana Time treatment was so relaxing and in all honesty I can’t even remember what was going on. All I know is that any stress or tension I did have before going on in was quickly relieved. My poor therapist dealt to my peeling back (sunburn…) with a coconut back scrub and massage, followed by a foot ritual. Then, I received a facial and as someone who doesn’t exactly give my skin much love, it was very well received. I never understood how Erin described facials as “relaxing” before this. I didn’t get how a massage on your face could feel remotely nice. But this cleared all that up! I had to fight the sleep throughout the facial and woke up to refreshed ad “glowing” skin, as Erin noticed. Before thistreatment, I thought 75 minutes would be way too long and I’d get bored but it went way too quick and wish I could easily have done it all over again.
All in all our treatments couldn’t be faulted. We walked out on another planet – seriously we were oily zombies - with radiant skin ;). Then, popped next door to grab a bottle of wine for at home because seriously, name a better combo than pampering and wine?! So, if you’re struggling to find the perfect present, we highly recommend the Mana Time and Exotic Bliss treatments. Bonus if you can make a day of it and book in at the same time for a truly indulgent date.
